GATHERING MOMENTUM

Engage Visual Arts

I worked as a Programme Facilitator to support 6 young Creative Producers to develop a 2-day online conference exploring the future of participatory arts. Through panel discussions, presentations, workshops and social time to share practice, the conference considered:

• What role young people can play in the future of participatory arts, and what impact the next generation of art-workers can have on the sector

• What role collective action, self-organisation and activism can play in participatory arts to address challenges of equality, social justice and climate change

• How participatory arts can amplify voices that are often marginalised and support people-powered community development to re-use and reclaim spaces.

I supported the young Creative producers to commission contributors for the programme - including Owen Griffiths, Suzanne Dhaliwal and Kandace Siobhan Walker. Additionally I programmed training and coordinated coaching opportunities for the group, and supported them to create a digital artwork as a legacy of the conference - the Gathering Garden - created by Harriet Horobin-Worley.
